Room 306, Monday Afternoon

Summer was sitting on a blanket on the floor with the kids. She had ordered Chinese food because that was a lot safer than anything she would try to cook.

"Can I talk to Daddy soon?" Amber asked.

"Yes."

"Mama, can I use magic? Mommy wouldn't let me last night," Dalton told her.

"No!"

Those were some of the conversations that could be heard in Room 306 this afternoon.

Hoshi had promised Kaji that he could play with Porthos the dog after lunch. That meant that he took off like a shot towards what he thought was her room.

"Po! Where are you, Po?" yelled Kaji.

"Kaji, we're on the wrong floor! Hold on a second. Po's not here!" Hoshi was calling after him.

Amber went out into the hall when she heard the commotion. "Who is Po?"

"Po's my doggy!" said Kaji, grinning.

Hoshi just groaned.

"There's a bunny in my mom's room," Amber told him.

"Can I see the bunny?" asked Kaji.

"Okay!" Amber replied, going inside to retrieve bunny. She returned a few moments later. "This is Pancakes."

"Hi Pancakes!" said Kaji. "Can I pet him?"

Hoshi knelt down next to her son and smiled at Amber. "You mommy must be Summer, right?"

"Uh huh," Amber said to Hoshi. To Kaji, she added, "And you can pet her. She's a girl bunny."

"Oh," said Kaji, very gently petting Pancakes. "She's pretty. Mommy, why don't you have a bunny?"

Hoshi couldn't help snickering. "Because then Hinata and I would totally have a zoo with Porthos and Yei and a bunny! I wouldn't have any room left for you."

"My mommy only has a bunny," Amber said. "We don't have a zoo either."

"Do you have pets at home?" asked Kaji.

"No, unless you count Uncle Eric," Amber replied.

"My uncle has a doggie that's gonna have puppies and he said I can have a puppy once they're born!" said Kaji, grinning.

Hoshi was frowning slightly, because both of her brothers didn't really seem like the dog-owning type.
