Room 306, Sunday Afternoon

Summer was currently sitting on the floor with Pancakes. She told Lana she could stop by today and visit her. The bunny was hopping around nearby, probably not really aware of what was happening.

"You are?" Summer said. "Is he It right now?"

"Yup. I think I lost him though," Chris said.

"He'll find you eventually. Maybe," Summer said.

The bunny hopped over, sniffing at Chris curiously.

"Hi, Pancakes!" Chris said, bending down to pet the bunny. "How come she's out of her cage?"

"Because she wanted to play with some of the kids," Summer replied. Actually, it was the other way around, but she didn't mention that.

"Can I hold her?" Chris asked.

"Of course you can," Summer replied, lifting her up and handing her to Chris. "Just be careful."

Chris took the bunny and started to cuddle her. "Pancakes is so nice."

Summer nodded. "Especially because you're being so nice and gentle with her."

Chris beamed at Summer's praise and rubbed his cheek against Pancakes' white fur, leaving a smudge of dirt and sand.

"I'm glad we have a bunny."

"Me too," Summer replied, trying not to flail at that smudge of dirt left on her fur. "You know, you should probably get cleaned up since it's almost time for you to go to bed."

"But I'm almost seven!" Chris pouted. "I should get to stay up later."

"Well, if you go get cleaned up, maybe I'll let you stay awake a little longer," Summer said, attempting to bribe him.

"Okay!" Chris agreed. He grabbed some clean pajamas from his drawer (ones that had airplanes on them) and headed for the bathroom.

He returned fifteen minutes later, his hair wet and having left his dirty clothes and wet towel in a heap on the bathroom floor.

Summer figured that was the case. "Did you leave the dirty clothes on the floor?"

Summer peered at him. "Are you lying to me?"

Chris orbed away for a minute and then orbed back. "No," he said, trying to look innocent.

Summer nodded. "Okay then. So, ready for bed now?"

"You said I could stay up later if I got all cleaned up," Chris reminded her.

"Oh, right I did." Summer sat on the edge of her bed. "Well, how about you sit up here with me."

She was thinking of a way to get him to go to sleep sooner.

Chris nodded and climbed up on to her bed, making sure to keep a shy distance from her. "Tell me a story?"

"What kind of story?" Summer asked.

"One about a brave prince rescuing a beautiful princess from a bad man," Chris said.

"Okay, I think I can do that," Summer said thoughtfully. "There once was a beautiful princess named April. She lived in a big castle in the valley...in Southern California..."

She continued to tell a story based on her favorite tv show until she realized Chris had rested his head on her shoulder...and eventually drifted off to sleep.
