Room 306, Monday All Day

Summer was in her room, quietly celebrating her birthday. It was very different from how she celebrated last year. She was lucky to even remember that night. Today, she wasn't in the mood to be celebratory. She read a few emails from friends back home. There was one email missing, though. The one from her best friend she'd never receive again.

"Happy birthday to me," she said to Pancakes. As usual, she got a nose twitch in response.

Hearing Shawn's voice was definitely enough to make the slight emo Summer had been feeling go away.

"Hey you," she said happily.

"How're you doing all the way over there?" he asked. "Any little bunny invasions in your honour or anything?"

"Pancakes is the only bunny I've seen," Summer replied. "I'm okay. I miss you."

"I miss you, too," Shawn told her. "And I'll be back in a couple of weeks. I promise.... and I know I've said that before, but I do actually mean it this time."

"I look forward to that," Summer said sincerely. "So how's Seattle?"

"It's... been busy," Shawn said, a little evasively. "Everything still the same in Fandom, or am I coming back to find the school got blown up again?"

"Nope, not blown up," Summer replied. "The rebuilding process seems to be going well. Oh and we have a crazy new principal."

"Crazier than the average teacher in that school?" Shawn asked.

"Maybe more so?" Summer said. "She keeps making up these crazy rules that no one is following."

"Crazy rules." Well, that sounded a little ominous. "Like what?"

"Like banning co-ed living arrangements, a curfew, banning pulic displays of affection. Things like that," Summer explained. "Oh, and we have to stay at least eight inches apart from everyone."

"Did she materialise out of the fifties or something? Geez."

Summer shrugged. "Considering all the weird timelines and stuff around here, she could have."

"Well, here's hoping they send her back pretty damn quick," Shawn decided. "Because she sounds like hell to live with."

"You said she was splitting up roommates? Are you not with Chris now?"

"Well, no one is really following these rules," Summer said. "I know I haven't been. A curfew? Please, like I'd follow that rule."

She paused before continuing. "Chris and I somehow managed to escape that one. I don't know how."

"Somehow, I wasn't expecting you to be happily adhering to that lot," Shawn replied with a chuckle. "Quiet rebellion, at least?"

"Something like that," Summer replied. She grinned. "If you were here, I definitely would rebel against the public displays of affection banning."

"Well, if they're still at it when I get back in a couple of weeks, you know I'll be more than happy to help you rebel."

Summer smiled. "Good to know."
