Room 306, Monday All Day

Summer was in her room, quietly celebrating her birthday. It was very different from how she celebrated last year. She was lucky to even remember that night. Today, she wasn't in the mood to be celebratory. She read a few emails from friends back home. There was one email missing, though. The one from her best friend she'd never receive again.

"Happy birthday to me," she said to Pancakes. As usual, she got a nose twitch in response.

Chris returned to the room after his class, carrying coffee and muffins from J,GOB.

"Happy birthday," he greeted his roommate.

Summer smiled. "Thanks."

Then she spotted coffee. "Ooh, coffee not made by me."

"And muffins," Chris said, handing her a cup of coffee and a muffin. "I'll spare you my singing."

"I still think you're the best roomie ever," Summer said, sipping some coffee.

Chris smirked. "Of course I am. And screw that stupid woman for wanting to split us up. The school administration put us together, we're staying together."

"Yeah, I don't have any plans to leave," Summer added. "I wonder how we got out of that anyway."

"Luck?" Chris suggested. "Or possibly Wyatt changed my registration papers to say 'Christina'."

Summer snickered. "He would do that, wouldn't he?"

Chris laughed. "I wouldn't put anything past him."

"Well, if that's the reason we haven't been separated, remind me to thank your brother," Summer said.

"Oh, I don't know if I want you to do that," Chris said. "Then he'll think it's okay to screw with me all the time and it might not work out so well next time."

"But it's fun to make you flail," Summer said with a laugh. It was hard to tell if she was serious or not.

Chris pouted. "That's not nice."

If Summer was near her phone right now, she would probably hear it ringing.

Summer did indeed hear the phone ringing. She answered it without checking the caller ID. "Hello?"

"Morning, birthday girl," Shawn sing songed through the phone.

Hearing Shawn's voice was definitely enough to make the slight emo Summer had been feeling go away.

"Hey you," she said happily.

"How're you doing all the way over there?" he asked. "Any little bunny invasions in your honour or anything?"

"Pancakes is the only bunny I've seen," Summer replied. "I'm okay. I miss you."

"I miss you, too," Shawn told her. "And I'll be back in a couple of weeks. I promise.... and I know I've said that before, but I do actually mean it this time."

"I look forward to that," Summer said sincerely. "So how's Seattle?"

"It's... been busy," Shawn said, a little evasively. "Everything still the same in Fandom, or am I coming back to find the school got blown up again?"

"Nope, not blown up," Summer replied. "The rebuilding process seems to be going well. Oh and we have a crazy new principal."

"Crazier than the average teacher in that school?" Shawn asked.

"Maybe more so?" Summer said. "She keeps making up these crazy rules that no one is following."
